Administration and House Republican Hires Boost Depth in Policy and Regulatory Portfolio

WASHINGTON DC – Venn Strategies, LLC, a leading national public affairs and government relations firm, announced several key hires today, including incoming Vice President JoHannah Torkelson and new Senior Associate Michelle Seger.

Torkelson, a lawyer who comes from the President’s Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition, has also been an adviser to the Partnership for a Healthier America and on the staff of the Medical College of Wisconsin. At Venn, Torkelson will play a key role advising the firm’s growing portfolio of public health clients, including the Campaign to End Obesity and the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics as well as on the Precision Medicine Project for the National Institutes of Health.

Seger joins Venn from her post as Legislative Counsel for Congressman Alex Mooney (R-WV), where she led health and budget matters. Seger has also worked for Chairman Grassley on the Senate Judiciary Committee, Chairman Johnson on the Ways & Means Social Security Subcommittee and Chairman McCain on the Senate Homeland Security and Government Affairs Permanent Subcommittee on Investigation.

Other recent hires include two new Associates, Kate Francis, who was previously on staff at the State Department in the Economic and Business Affairs Bureau and graduated from Barnard College and Thomas Low, a graduate from Pomona College.
