Venn Senior Team Grows With Addition of Top American Pharmacists Association Lobbyist

Michael Spira, a Top Aide for Two House Dems, Brings Strategy and Reach on Health and Economic Policy Clients

WASHINGTON DC – Venn Strategies, LLC, a leading national public affairs and government relations firm, announced today that Michael Spira has joined the firm as a Vice President. Spira brings more than fifteen years of political and policy experience, having most recently served as a senior lobbyist at the American Pharmacist Association.  He was previously Chief of Staff for former Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY) and Deputy Chief of Staff for Congressman Ed Perlmutter (D-CO).

At the American Pharmacists Association, Spira developed and implemented successful legislative strategies and led the organization’s innovative advocacy efforts. He spearheaded new legislation on the group’s top policy priorities and organized the first-ever, pharmacist-led hill health fair. Beyond his deep competencies in health policy, Spira brings his broad experience in the financial services field, given his role as top advisor to two leading House Democrats on the Financial Services Committee.

At Venn, Spira will play a key role supporting the firm’s growing biopharmaceutical practice, working with clients such as Eli Lilly and Regeneron, and will enhance and deepen the work that the firm does for the Alliance for Home Dialysis, among other clients.

“As we move into an increasingly important time politically in Washington, with so much at stake on health and economic policy for U.S. interests, we want to offer our clients the broadest possible reach and strategic skill set.  Adding Michael speaks to both those goals, and we are confident that he’ll add tremendous value to the work we and our clients do,” said Venn CEO and founder Stephanie Silverman.

In addition to Spira, Venn announced it has hired Annalise Johnson, a recent graduate of Duke University, as a new associate, working in the firm’s tax and infrastructure policy groups.
